Kaplan Fox filed a consumer fraud class action against Logitech alleging that its HD digital home security “Alert Systems” were defective and that Logitech breached California consumer protection and warranty laws. The lawsuit alleges, among other things, that Logitech marketed and sold Alert Systems that couldn’t provide continuous, reliable digital home security because the Alert Systems were defective and that the cameras experienced a high-rate of failure. Plaintiff alleges Logitech also failed to honor its warranties by requiring buyers to go through time-consuming and unproductive troubleshooting and claims processes that did not resolve their issues and left them with faulty security systems. Plaintiff’s complaint requests damages for him and other California consumers.
On December 8, 2015, Judge George Hernandez of the Alameda County Superior Court denied Logitech’s motion to strike the class action. In January 2016, a notice about the case was emailed to Logitech Alert purchasers informing them of the case.
