Kevin Cosgrove has led Kaplan Fox’s in-house Investigations’ unit since 2002 andand has spent the past 20 years conducting comprehensive business intelligence and fraud investigations in the private sector on some of the largest complex financial and corporate fraud cases in history. He remains responsible for overseeing all aspects of KFK case investigations to help identify, develop, document, and prosecute sophisticated matters.

Mr. Cosgrove has played a key role in many of the firm’s securities, antitrust, and consumer class actions resulting in substantial recoveries for the Firm’s clients, including In re Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. Securities, Derivative and ERISA Litigation, 07cv9633 (S.D.N.Y.) ($475 million recovered), one of the largest recoveries in a securities class action; In re Escala Group, Inc. Securities Litigation, 06cv3518 (S.D.N.Y.) ($18 million in cash and stock recovered); In re Sequenom, Inc. Securities Litigation, 09cv921 (S.D. Cal.) ($43 million in cash and stock recovered, as of February 4, 2010, and significant corporate governance reforms); In re Proquest Company Securities Litigation, 06cv10619 (E.D. Mich.) ($20 million recovered), and Friedman v. Penson Worldwide, Inc., 11cv2098 (N.D. Tex.) ($6.5 million recovered). Within the antitrust arena, In re Hydrogen Peroxide Antitrust Litigation, MDL 1682 (E.D. Pa.)($97 million recovered); In re Plastics Additives Antitrust Litigation, 03-CV-1898 (E.D.Pa.) ($46.8 million recovered); and In re NBR Antitrust Litigation, MDL 1684 (E.D. Pa.) ($34.3 million recovered); and In re Air Cargo Antitrust Litigation (more than $i billion in settlements to date).

Mr. Cosgrove has a particular expertise in developing and implementing investigative plans that involve a variety of resources and personnel. He has a global network of investigative and law enforcement contacts and has worked closely with former personnel from within the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).

Mr. Cosgrove is both a licensed Private Investigator in the State of New York as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”).  He is an active member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the world’s largest anti-fraud organization, as well as the National Association of Investigative Specialists. In addition to his experience and certifications, he continues to polish his skills through continued professional education in a variety of disciplines, including fraud investigations, interrogation and interview techniques, white collar crime, relational and skip tracing databases, as well as several other areas pertaining to investigations and compliance. He is also a contributing writer for a number of investigative publications where he is frequently sought to discuss a variety of fraud-related topics.

Mr. Cosgrove earned a B.A. in Criminology from Fordham University in 1998 as well as an M.S. in Criminal Justice/Fraud Examination from Long Island University (summa cum laude) in 2001.
