On January 31, 2017, Kaplan Fox filed a federal class action lawsuit against Logitech alleging that its digital video security products were deceptively marketed and ultimately defective. Plaintiffs’ case alleges that Logitech sold consumers digital video home security “Alert Systems” that did not work as advertised because they contained defects in the hardware and faulty software that caused the Alert Systems to fail. Plaintiffs also allege that Logitech concealed these defects from consumers who invested thousands of dollars in expensive Alert Systems that failed to provide the home security Logitech promised. Additionally, Plaintiffs allege Logitech stonewalled warranty claims and discontinued Alert Systems leaving consumers unable to have their Alert Systems fixed or replaced.
Plaintiffs’ Complaint, which was filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, seeks to certify a class of consumers that purchased Alert Systems. Plaintiffs allege that Logitech violated multiple consumer protection laws in California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, in addition to breaching its warranty obligations. Plaintiffs seek damages and restitution from Logitech. The case has been assigned to Judge Freda Wolfson, Case No. 17-cn-00673.
